Kelsey Mitchell tied a Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) record when she finished with ۲۹ points before sitting out the fourth, while Caitlin Clark added ۲۴ points for the Indiana Fever to beat the Toronto Tempo ۱۰۱-۹۵ for their fifth straight victory.
Clark and Mitchell have each scored ۲۰ or more in the same game ۱۶ times this season, a WNBA record. Diana Taurasi and Cappie Pondexter did it ۱۵ times with Phoenix in ۲۰۰۸.

Mitchell scored ۲۰ or more for the ۲۰th consecutive game on Tuesday, matching Las Vegas’ A’ja Wilson for the longest such streak in WNBA history. But after the Indiana combo guard scored eight points in the span of less than a minute late in the third quarter, she went to the locker room and did not return.
After the game, Fever coach Stephanie White said Mitchell appeared to get “overheated” while playing in a hot environment rather than suffering a serious injury.
Clark added seven assists for the Fever (۲۴-۱۲) and Aliyah Boston chipped in with ۱۶ points. Sophie Cunningham scored ۱۳ points off the bench.
The Tempo (۱۰-۲۴) were outshot ۵۲.۹% to ۳۹.۱% as they lost their ۱۱th game in a row.
Marina Mabrey led the Tempo with ۲۲ points. Brittney Sykes returned from a foot injury to score ۱۵ points.
Toronto reserve Aneesah Morrow had ۱۴ points and ۱۶ rebounds. Temi Fagbenle added ۱۳ points off the bench and Kiki Rice scored ۱۰.
The Fever opened the fourth quarter with a ۱۲-point lead that increased to ۱۴ when Cunningham made three free throws with ۶:۴۵ to play.
But Indiana struggled shooting from the field and that allowed the Tempo to climb back within seven points with ۲:۵۵ to play. Makayla Timpson’s steal set up Cunningham for a ۳-pointer that gave the Fever a ۱۰-point lead with ۱:۲۵ to play.
Mabrey nailed two consecutive ۳-pointers to trim the lead to ۹۷-۹۳ with ۵۹ seconds left. After a Fever miss, the Tempo had possession with ۲۱ seconds to play but Mabrey was called for a palming infraction and Rice was whistled for a foul.
The Fever led ۳۳-۲۳ on ۶۱.۹% (۱۳-for-۲۱) shooting after one quarter.
The energized Tempo cut the lead to six with ۷:۱۰ to play in the second quarter before the Fever surged to score the next ۱۱ points. The Tempo battled back, and Morrow’s ۳-pointer completed the first-half scoring and cut the halftime margin to ۵۷-۴۹.
Indiana shot ۵۹% in the first half while Toronto made ۴۲.۲%.
Mabrey hit two ۲-pointers in the first minute of the third quarter to trim the margin to four.
Mitchell reached ۲۰ points on a driving layup with ۶:۰۳ remaining to give Indiana a ۱۰-point lead. Fagbenle’s ۳-pointer reduced the lead to five with ۲:۰۳ to play, but Indiana finished the third quarter on a ۹-۲ surge to lead ۸۱-۶۹.
