California governor Gavin Newsom has put his Sacramento-area mansion up for sale, before his term will end in January.
The ۱۲-bath, seven-bed Spanish-style home in Fair Oaks, a suburb of the California capital, hit the market on Monday with an asking price of $۷.۵m. The estate, which sits on a ۸.۲-acre (۳.۳-hectare) parcel of land, boasts an array of amenities including a full-size tennis court, a ۵,۰۰۰-bottle wine cellar, a pool, a cold plunge and a hot tub, according to a Zillow listing from realtors Matthew Hindy and Nick Sadek.
Newsom, who was elected California governor in ۲۰۱۸, is openly considering running for the Democratic presidential nomination in ۲۰۲۸.
The governor and his family moved into the Fair Oaks property in ۲۰۱۹, after briefly living at the historic governor’s mansion in Sacramento. A spokesperson, at the time, described the estate as “more kid-friendly”, according to the Sacramento Bee.
The Newsoms have since split their time between Sacramento and Marin county, an affluent area north of San Francisco, where they also own property. Newsom enrolled his children in Marin county schools in ۲۰۲۴.
The Fair Oaks mansion was the site of a protest in ۲۰۲۰, where protesters chained themselves to its fence to denounce rising California prison deaths amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The property also received attention when Newsom used it to host a ۲۰۲۴ political fundraiser for Minnesota governor Tim Walz, who was then campaigning as the Democratic vice-presidential candidate.
