We are looking for a Senior UI/UX Designer to own the end-to-end product experience of an AI-powered companion designed for young children and their parents. You will work across research, information architecture, interaction design, visual design, prototyping, design systems, and usability testing, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Creative teams to turn complex product requirements into simple, safe, and engaging experiences.
The team is intentionally small and senior, which means every person has a wide surface of responsibility and a direct impact on what ships.
Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end user experience across mobile applications and supporting web surfaces.
- Translate product goals and user problems into information architecture, user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs.
- Design onboarding experiences for children and parents, considering their different needs, attention spans, and reading abilities.
- Design content experiences that combine audio, illustration, and interaction into a coherent and intuitive experience.
- Create interactive prototypes to validate flows and interactions before engineering investment.
- Balance user needs, business goals, technical constraints, and product requirements when making design decisions.
- Design intuitive interfaces for pre-readers using audio-first navigation, illustration, iconography, and clear interaction patterns instead of relying on text.
- Design for short attention spans and unpredictable behavior, including interruptions, repetition, accidental input, and abandonment.
- Use motion, sound, and pacing thoughtfully to create a calm and immersive experience.
- Design experiences that are engaging without relying on manipulative engagement mechanics such as artificial urgency, streaks, or compulsion loops.
- Consider real-world usage conditions such as shared devices, low-light environments, and mid-range hardware.
- Design parent-facing experiences including account setup, consent, preferences, controls, content history, and subscription flows.
- Create clear and accessible experiences that explain what the product does and what information it retains.
- Design simple and transparent controls for reviewing, correcting, deleting, and managing user data.
- Communicate safety and privacy principles through the product experience without making the interface unnecessarily complex.
- Build and maintain a scalable design system covering components, tokens, typography, color, spacing, states, and motion guidelines.
- Ensure accessibility is considered throughout the design process, including contrast, legibility, dynamic type, screen reader support, reduced motion, and appropriate touch targets.
- Collaborate with Creative and Art Direction teams to ensure the interface, characters, illustrations, and overall visual language feel like one cohesive product.
- Prepare production-ready designs, specifications, and assets for engineering implementation.
- Review implemented designs and collaborate with engineers to ensure the final product reflects the intended experience.
- Design with localization and multiple writing directions in mind, including right-to-left layouts.
- Plan and conduct usability testing with children and parents using appropriate research methods for each audience.
- Observe real user sessions and translate behavioral insights into actionable design decisions.
- Define success criteria for key user flows and evaluate the shipped experience against those criteria.
- Use qualitative research and product analytics to identify friction, confusion, drop-off, and opportunities for improvement.
- Iterate on designs based on research findings, product data, and user behavior.
- Partner closely with Product to shape scope, priorities, and user experience decisions.
- Work closely with Engineering throughout implementation, considering technical constraints such as performance, latency, and platform limitations.
- Clearly present and defend design decisions using reasoning, research, and evidence.
- Challenge requirements when they may lead to a poor user experience and propose better alternatives.
- Contribute to design standards, documentation, and processes as the product and team grow.
Requirements:
- ۵+ years of professional experience in product design, UI/UX, or a closely related field.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating shipped consumer products and the ability to walk through design decisions and outcomes in depth.
- Strong command of the end-to-end design process, including research, information architecture, interaction design, prototyping, visual design, and developer handoff.
- Excellent visual design skills, including typography, layout, color, hierarchy, and visual consistency.
- Proven experience designing and shipping native mobile applications for iOS and Android.
- Strong understanding of iOS and Android design principles and interface guidelines.
- Experience building and maintaining design systems used by engineering teams in production.
- Solid understanding of accessibility principles and their practical application in product design.
- Experience planning and conducting usability testing and translating findings into concrete design improvements.
- Strong understanding of interaction and motion design, including how timing and transitions affect usability and perceived quality.
- Expert knowledge of modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain design rationale clearly to Product, Engineering, and other non-design stakeholders.
- Ability to take ownership of ambiguous problems from definition through implementation and measurement.
- Fluency in English and Persian.
Nice to Have:
- Experience designing products for children or experience in child development, education, or play design.
- Familiarity with children’s privacy and safety requirements such as COPPA and GDPR-K.
- Experience designing family-oriented products or applications.
- Experience designing audio-led or voice-driven interfaces.
- Experience designing AI-powered products and communicating personalization, uncertainty, and system behavior through the user experience.
- Illustration, animation, or character design skills.
- Experience with subscription products, including pricing, trial, and retention experiences.
- Front-end development familiarity sufficient to collaborate effectively with engineers on implementation details.
Portfolio:
Please include a portfolio or case studies with your application. We are particularly interested in the reasoning behind your work: the problem you were solving, the constraints you faced, the alternatives you considered, what you learned from testing, and what you would change today. Polished final screens without the story and thinking behind them tell us very little.
We build, not watch — This is where you belong!
