Three people have been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after an alleged axe attack in Victoria, with police still searching for the suspect.
The alleged attacker, who is known to the victims, came to an address in the Gippsland town of Tyers at about ۱۲.۳۰pm on Saturday, according to a spokesperson for Victoria police.
He is believed to have attacked an elderly man and woman, and a third person with an axe, causing serious injuries.
The man, who is in his ۵۰s, fled the address and the victims were able to call emergency services for help, police said.
A specialist air ambulance and road paramedics were dispatched to the scene and all three victims were treated at the scene.
A spokesperson for Ambulance Victoria said a man in his ۷۰s and a man in his ۴۰s were transported to hospital in a critical condition.
A woman in her ۷۰s was transported to hospital in a serious but stable condition, the spokesperson said.
The man is believed to have left the property on foot.
Victoria police launched a large-scale search for the man yesterday and were continuing to look for him on Sunday.

The man was last seen wearing a black and mustard coloured jacket and carrying a black backpack, police said.
Police warned he may be armed with an axe and handsaw.
Police urged anyone who sees the offender to not approach the man and immediately contact Triple Zero (۰۰۰).
